I first learned about NeoBantu on an Instagram post. I was captivated by what I saw – a voluminous high-low skirt with mouthwatering color combo and prints that looked all to familiar but from a far distant land from my past. Going through more of the pieces I realized this brand is onto something. I contacted the founder of NeoBantu to learn more about the brand and take a peak at her collections; she was kind enough to have me over her studio. Tendai, shared with me her vision of creating the line for a woman who is fearless in her choice of aesthetics and not afraid to try something new.
In my opinion when creating a piece using African fabric, half of your job is done as the vibrant color and pattern set the tone already. The key lies upon the choice of aesthetics and execution which NeoBantu’s collection has all that element figured out. I also had a chance to see few of the upcoming holiday pieces, all I have to say is, it is worth ditching your cliche sequence dress for. It was such a pleasure to get to know this brand and I will be closely watching as this brand blossoms.
