SOMETHIN’ OLD, SOMETHIN’ NEW

It is becoming evident that I am having some serious love affair with mixing vintage finds with a splash of high end goodness. Where I come from, shopping vintage is not necessarily something one brags about. There is this stigma of only the broke shops from vintage store. Who am I kidding I used to have the same mentality till about few years ago. I will share more about how and why I became vintage lover in the upcoming blog post; and maybe I get to convert one or two of you anti-vintage individuals to an avid vintage curators :) Back to this outfit, I loved the contrast between the mundane piece as sweatshirt mixed with the luxurious fabric of all- velvet pencil skirt. I had to cut out the sleeves as the sweatshirt was too big and was a bit unflattering plus the weather calls for some sleeveless. Wearing: Sweatshirt: Ralph Lauren (vintage) Skirt: Vintage Clutch: Vintage Necklace: Vintage Shoes: Balenciaga

BYE BYE SUMMER

This appears to be my last summer outfit post as the weather here is getting pleasant. Believe me as much as I love twirling in my easy breezy yellow skirt, I so prefer a weather that allows me to layer or wear an overcoat. All weather rant aside, this skirt is one of the gems I found in some forgotten pile. Too bad I found it at the tail end of summer but I am sure it will make its appearance in a near future blog post as I love to blend warm colors in Fall/Winter ensemble. Wearing Top: Liberty Love Skirt: H&M Shoes: Zara Bag: Zara Bracelet: Saks Fifth, Marc Jacob

COBALT BLUE HUE

This skirt I own for over couple years all of a sudden turn out to be my main go to this summer. Mainly because this brutal Dallas summer got me utterly helpless in what to wear and I brought out all of my forgotten skirts and  anything loose that doesn't stick to your body the second you find yourself outdoors.  I am counting down for the days until this weather cools off and I get to play with my outwear and wear my normal clothes.  Wearing: Sweater: Tildon Skirt: Zara Shoes: Miu Miu Bracelt: Marc Jacob, Saks Fifth

NEOBANTU

I first learned about NeoBantu on an Instagram post. I was captivated by what I saw - a voluminous high-low skirt with mouthwatering color combo and prints that looked all to familiar but from a far distant land from my past. Going through more of the pieces I realized this brand is onto something. I contacted the founder of NeoBantu to learn more about the brand and take a peak at her collections; she was kind enough to have me over her studio. Tendai, shared with me her vision of creating the line for a woman who is fearless in her choice of aesthetics and not afraid to try something new. In my opinion when creating a piece using African fabric, half of your job is done as the vibrant color and pattern set the tone already. The key lies upon the choice of aesthetics and execution which NeoBantu's collection has all that element figured out. I also had a chance to see few of the upcoming holiday pieces, all I have to say is, it is worth ditching your cliche sequence dress for. It was such a pleasure to get to know this brand and I will be closely watching as this brand blossoms.
